Troubleshooting Common Errors

"AI screening is temporarily paused for maintenance"

This means the system administrator has temporarily disabled AI screening. Manual screening still works. This is usually resolved quickly. If it persists, contact support.

"You already have an AI screening job running on another project"

Only one AI job can run at a time. Wait for the current job to finish, or pause it from the project where it is running, then try again.

"Screening is already running for this project"

AI screening is already active on this project. Check the screening page for progress. If it appears stuck, try pausing and resuming.

"This import would exceed the paper limit"

Your project has a limit of 20,000 papers. The error message shows how many more you can import. Options:

  • Remove duplicates from your file before importing
  • Split your search into a smaller set
  • Contact support for a limit increase

"Project paper limit reached"

You have reached the maximum number of papers for your pilot project. Contact support if you need more capacity.

"Full-text screening limit reached"

You have screened the maximum number of full-text papers (1,000). Your results are saved. Contact support for a limit increase.

Import fails or shows 0 papers

  • Make sure your file is in a supported format (RIS, CSV, PubMed text)
  • Check that the file is not empty or corrupted
  • Try opening the file in a text editor to verify it has content
  • If exporting from PubMed, use "Save" with format set to "PubMed" (not MEDLINE or XML)

PDF not found for a paper

Oryn searches 6 open-access sources automatically. If a paper is behind a paywall:

1. Download the PDF using your institutional access

2. Click "Upload PDF" next to the paper

3. Drag and drop or select the PDF file

Screening seems stuck or slow

AI screening processes papers in batches. For large projects (5,000+ papers), this can take several minutes. Check the progress bar for updates. If there is no progress for more than 5 minutes, try pausing and resuming.
