How Deduplication Works

What happens

After you import your files, click Run Deduplication. Oryn scans all your imported abstracts and automatically removes duplicates that appear across multiple databases.

What you'll see

• A progress bar while deduplication runs
• A summary showing: total papers, duplicates found, duplicates auto-removed, and uncertain pairs flagged for your review
• Your paper count updates to reflect unique papers only

Uncertain pairs

Some matches aren't clear-cut (e.g., a conference abstract and its full journal article). These are flagged for you to review. See [Reviewing Uncertain Duplicates](/help/reviewing-duplicates) for how to handle them.

When it's done

Click Continue to move to the next stage (Setting Criteria). You can always come back to review flagged pairs later.
